I told them to proceed as I have now done 73K but when I got home I checked my service book and it says toothed belt requires changing at 114K

But acctually it's 100.000 miles or 160.000km (As from '99 models- ), but here in Europe they change it at the 150.000km service (= +-93.750 miles). Change the mechnice tensioner to, it doesn't cost much.
